If you have time, go up to the upper ground floor where there is another fascinating exhibition - The History of Recorded Sound.The Harry Potter's virtual exhibition has a wide range of entertaining resources including the captivating analysis of diverse aspects of the wizard's world such as the magical creatures, potions, the road to Hogwarts, and the Ripley scroll that shows how the philosopher's stone was created.

The displays of illustrated manuscripts and books (some of a very large size) are superb and together with artifacts including a wonderful globe showing the heavenly bodies, it is a fascinating exhibition. The main reason for my visit was to see the Harry Potter - A History of Magic exhibition now I must admit that I have very little interest in Harry Potter but but knowing the other excellent ehibitions that I have seen here, I was sure that there would be some treasures from the British Library's archives and I was right. The courtyard itself is very nice with areas of seating and a pleasant little cafe which offers some good snacks and cakes not to mention coffee and tea and if the weather is warm, you can sit outside. The British Library stands quietly in the busy Euston Road and once you are through the gates into the courtyard, the sound of the traffic seems to recede.
